The Haikou Clock Tower海口钟楼

　　Historic Qilou Street is in Haikou.

　　More than 100 years ago， many Hainan people went to Southeast Asia to work.

　　一百多年前，许多海南人前往东南亚务工。

　　After they came back, they built this street. There are around 600 historic buildings here.

　　他们返乡后，修建了这条老街，这里大约有600栋老建筑。

　　The buildings connect to each other.

　　一栋栋建筑紧紧相邻。

　　There is a long shaded walkway on the first floor.

　　一楼设有长长的廊道。

　　You can walk there when it rains or when the sun is bright.

　　下雨或者烈日当头时，你都可以在廊道下行走。

　　There are beautiful, unique carvings on the outside walls.

　　外墙布满精美的雕刻，模样十分独特。

　　At Historic Qilou Street, you can see ancient buildings and try tasty Hainan snacks.

　　在骑楼老街，你既能观赏古建筑，还可以品尝美味的海南特色小吃。

　　Standing on the banks of the Haidian River, the Haikou Clock Tower is one of Haikou's most well known landmarks.

　　海口钟楼位于海甸溪南岸，是海口知名地标。

　　Overseas Chinese from Hainan raised money to build it so that passing ships could know the correct time.

　　由海南海外华侨集资建造，方便船只掌握准确时间。

　　The Clock Tower was first built in 1929.

　　The tower we see today was rebuilt in 1987.

　　现存钟楼于1987年复原重建。

　　The red brick walls are very eye-catching.
